Summer Streets bundle is a reflection of Wendy Chow’s (The Weekend Quilter) design aesthetic. She draws inspiration from nature, and bold, geometric shapes, colors and lines from interior design, urbanscapes and architecture on her walks around New York City, where she currently resides. The warmer color palette goes hand in hand with the longer summer days and the light from the sun bouncing off the city’s surfaces.
New York City offers more than the iconic landmarks and urbanscapes. It’s also home to some of the most splendid parks and outdoor spaces in the world. It is a city that’s always changing and moving at a fast pace, making it full of inspiration.
Wendy hopes that you’d also be inspired to create with her fabric bundle and explore fabric pulls that are made up of all prints.
Mercer Street quilt is made up of one block type with various colours and arranged in such a way that it creates a chevron pattern. The placement of the block variations emulates the cobblestone streets throughout SoHo and NoHo The Weekend Quilter has spotted along the way during her walks around New York City, where she is based. Stare at the design long enough, and you may also see an overlay of the traditional quilt block Friendship Star.
The quilt pattern is designed to accompany The Weekend Quilter’s fabric bundle, Summer Streets (SKU: CBSFQ606), for Art Gallery Fabrics. The design is beginner and fat quarter friendly and focuses on quick-corner units, a piecing method in quilting.
